The Fakkema-Harmsen Logo Integration

With the merger of Harmsen & Associates, Inc. (H&AI) of Monroe and Fakkema & Kingma, Inc. (F&K) of Oak Harbor in 2007, the challenge of integrating the two companies became a major priority.  For brand recognition and to honor both companies’ histories, one of the best approaches is a “linkage” between their logos.

This concept is a little more complex than what it first appears to be.  H&AI, founded in 1974, started using its current logo in 1992.  F&K was founded even earlier in 1965 and adapted their logo in 1975.  Having both firms incorporated over 35 years ago, with H&AI’s logo in use for over 15 years and F&K’s logo for over 30, quite a reputation had been gained by both companies in their regions.

The integration of the logos would have to be gradual as not to take away from the visual identity and recognition each had achieved.  Harmsen & Associates, Inc. is the “Parent Company” of the two and the decision was made to adapt the Fakkema & Kingma logo towards the H&AI logo.

Below you can see some of the changes the F&K logo has gone through over the past years. The current logo (as of April 2011) is at the bottom.  Watch us over the years to see our evolution!
